According to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia Act, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology was abolished in February 2012. The areas of higher education, science and research are shifted to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport; the areas of technology, postal services and metrology are transferred to the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology; electronic communications and information society are taken over by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Spatial Planning.
